SCREEN PRINTING 101:
Want to learn to screen print? Screen printing 101 teaches a basic screen printing technique which uses a 230 mesh aluminum screen to print ink onto paper, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a stencil created with emulsion. Over the four weeks, students will create their own unique design, and learn to burn the image onto a screen in preparation for printing. Students will then print a 2-3 color screen print by learning how to layer different colors of ink and using the technique of registration to get clean lines and clean prints.
Dates: 4 Consecutive Wednesdays in September
Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm
$350 Per Student
Ink, paper, and screens are provided by DIY Printing. All skill levels welcome!
MONOPRINTING WITH SILK SCREENS & PROCION DYES:
Monoprinting is a painterly form of printmaking where the image is only intended to be made once, unlike most other printmaking techniques that allow for making multiple copies. There are many different types of monoprinting, and this class will explore the screen printing technique. This involves working directly on the screen using procion dyes, charcoal, and watercolor crayons to create a unique printed painting.
Dates: 2024 Dates TBA
Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm
$65 Per Student
Supplies are provided by DIY Printing. All skill levels welcome, though prior knowledge of screen printing is preferred!
Please contact Aaron Kent for reservations. All classes are currently limited to 6 students.
Classes are held at the DIY Printing studio inside Essex Studios.
